There\u2019s also a lot of memorable quotes from some of the other characters that appear alongside Clint in his cowboy films that would justify a separate list of their own, but for <g class=\"gr_ gr_5 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Punctuation only-ins replaceWithoutSep\" id=\"5\" data-gr-id=\"5\">now<\/g> I\u2019ll keep to those from the M<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"an with No Name  (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.spaghetti-western.net\/index.php\/Man_with_no_Name\" target=\"_blank\">an with No Name <\/a>himself. This of course is before he finds out she\u2019s a lady of the night, after which he decides he\u2019s been a tad hasty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"For_A_Few_Dollars_More_1965\"><\/span>For A Few Dollars More (1965)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cYou people need a new sheriff.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first of a number of quotes attributable to Mr. Eastwood relating to the efficacy of the local law enforcement. In this case, he takes the badge away from the sheriff and hands it to a group of concerned citizens. Still, it could have been worse. He could have just shot the guy instead (see Unforgiven later in this article).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Joe_Kidd_1972\"><\/span>Joe Kidd (1972)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cNext time, I&#8217;ll take your damn head off.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Useless sheriff no. 2, played by Gregory Walcott, an actor who also included on his CV what is generally considered to be one of the worst films ever made, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rottentomatoes.com\/m\/plan_9_from_outer_space\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"Plan 9 From Outer Space (opens in a new tab)\">Plan 9 From Outer Space<\/a>. Clint ostensibly punches the guy in the face for being the proverbial hole in the butt, but I suspect it was also for appearing in Ed Wood\u2019s cult turkey, and not being even faintly embarrassed by the whole thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"422\" src=\"https:\/\/mostlywesterns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/pale-rider-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5045\"\/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Pale_Rider_1985\"><\/span>Pale Rider (1985)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWell, if you&#8217;re waitin&#8217; for a woman to make up her mind, you may have a long wait.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Somewhat off-message bearing in mind contemporary mores and attitudes vis-\u00e0-vis #MeToo and female equality, so let\u2019s put it down to good old-fashioned 1980s male chauvinism and leave it at that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"High_Plains_Drifter_1973\"><\/span>High Plains Drifter (1973)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe only problem you&#8217;ve got Sheriff is a short supply of guts\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clint passing judgment on Useless Sheriff No. 3. It was either going to be this quote or <em>\u201cYou\u2019re gonna\u2019 look pretty silly with that knife sticking out of your ass\u201d<\/em>, but I\u2019d forgotten the context of this one, although I\u2019m pretty sure it has something to do with him being mad with someone \u2013 as usual.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Hang_%E2%80%98Em_High_1968\"><\/span>Hang \u2018Em High (1968)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWhen you hang a man, you better look at him.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wise words from innocent hangee Clint to those guilty of inviting him to a hastily arranged necktie party without recourse to a fair trial. Needless to say, he takes his revenge by becoming a U.S. Marshal so he can then legitimately hand out frontier justice Clint style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"920\" height=\"518\" src=\"https:\/\/mostlywesterns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/unforgiven-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5046\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mostlywesterns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/unforgiven-1.jpg 920w, https:\/\/mostlywesterns.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/01\/unforgiven-1-728x410.jpg 728w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 920px) 100vw, 920px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Unforgiven_1992\"><\/span>Unforgiven (1992)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI&#8217;ve killed everything that walks or crawls at one time or another. And I&#8217;m here to kill you, Little Bill, for what you done to Ned.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>True to his word, Clint, as killer William Munny, shoots and kills practically everyone in the drinking establishment in which poor dead Ned is displayed in the window.&nbsp; To further prove his self-declared credentials, Munny dispatches the local sheriff, Bill Daggett, played by Gene Hackman, by shooting him in the face with a double-barreled shotgun. I guess that makes him useless sheriff no. 4.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Good_the_Bad_and_the_Ugly_1966\"><\/span>The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1966)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cYou see, in this world, there\u2019s two kinds of people, my friend; those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After double-crossing each other more times than you can count throughout the previous two and a half hours of the movie, Blondie and Tuco \u2013 that\u2019s Clint and Eli Wallach to the uninitiated \u2013 finally get down to business with Clint holding the loaded guns, and Tuco doing the digging. There\u2019s one final double-cross at the end of the film but you can check that one out for yourselves. All we\u2019ll say is, one of them really should stop hanging about too much<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Fistful_of_Dollars_1964\"><\/span>A Fistful of Dollars (1964)<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cMy mistake. Four coffins.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A classic punchline to a classic, one might almost say iconic, scene in which killer Clint guns down a group of reprobates for laughing at his mule after they failed to apologise to said equine friend, presumably a mule who went by the name of Francis (a little Clint in-joke there for anyone familiar with his early films). After wiping out the poor fools, he corrects the local undertaker on the number of wooden containers required. Approximately thirty-seconds after offering some sage advice to a bounty hunter out \u201cto get me the Josey Wales\u201d, Clint&nbsp;reinforces his point by blowing the poor guy to Kingdom come. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This film undoubtedly possesses the <a href=\"https:\/\/mostlywesterns.com\/the-best-of-clint-eastwoods-western-movies\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"best screenplay of all of Eastwood\u2019s Westerns (opens in a new tab)\">best screenplay of all of Eastwood\u2019s Westerns<\/a>, and choosing a favourite was extremely hard to do.
